The (TQUK) Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training is suitable for teachers, trainers and tutors working in further education, adult and community learning or work-based training within public, private, voluntary or community organisations.

Assessment methods
This qualification is assessed by the completion of a portfolio of evidence, including workplace observations. The qualification is assessed by internally set and marked assessments subject to external quality assurance.

About the qualification
The qualification can meet the needs of a range of trainee teachers, including:

  • Planning and developing schemes of work

  • Delivering learning sessions

  • Developing teaching and learning strategies

  • Assessment practices

You, with the aid of a mentor, must also evidence 100 hours of teaching practice of which eight hours must be observed by the course Tutor or Mentor in the workplace on three different occasions. You must also produce written assignments to demonstrate an academic understanding of teaching and learning methodology and the relevant performance evidence. You will have up to 2 years to complete your assignments and observations following your attendance. Prepare to be busy, but it will be worth it!

What is required to pass?
You must achieve a minimum of 120 credits from two unit groups, including a minimum of 61 credits at Level 5. 

How is the course delivered?
There will be four one day workshops which will cover the required knowledge understanding of teaching and assessing learners. You will learn in an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere where the emphasis is on group activities to help you put what you are learning into practice.
